England U15 head coach Matt Thorpe has named his squad for their upcoming trip to Cyprus next week, featuring an Arsenal youngster. Luis Munoz ready to get involved once again.

Despite only turning 14 in December, Munoz made his debut for the England Under-15s earlier that month, when he was still 13. He featured in wins over Iceland and Spain before his birthday, then played another 90 minutes in another win over Italy.

The Arsenal youngster will now have another opportunity to impress as the England U15s take on Cyprus on Tuesday 10 February and the USA on Saturday 14 February.

It’s already been a big week for Munoz, as on Tuesday he was part of an on-pitch presentation at half-time of Arsenal’s League Cup semi-final win over Chelsea.

The Gunners have decided to recognize Arsenal players who were called up to the UEFA Youth League U19 squad this season as schoolboys, with Munoz joining Charlie Phillips, Mikael Bonaventure Yetna, Jaden Maghoma, Kyran Thompson, Angelinou Pedro, Mishel Nduka and Emerson Nwaneri on the pitch in front of the supporters.

Munoz made his UEFA Youth League debut in a victory against Bayern at the end of November, becoming the youngest player in Youth League history.

If there’s one thing Arsenal’s academy excels at, it’s showcasing its best talents and ensuring they have the chance to progress to the higher age groups as and when they are ready to accommodate them.

Munoz is just the latest example in a long list that includes the likes of Ethan Nwaneri, Myles Lewis-SkellyAnd Max Dowman.

The youngster has proven he can take on the challenge above his current under-14 age group, so he has chances with Arsenal’s older teams, and that leads to opportunities with England’s older teams as well.
