It’s Friday, folks, and that means it’s Ask The Maven Time. Today’s question comes from the Adirondacks where Fred Blackmore asks, “IS IT TRUE THAT THE RANGERS ARE TRYING TO GET JT MILLER FROM THE CANUCKS?”
The Maven responds: Rangers president and general manager Chris Drury has made it clear he wants better leadership – and toughness on his team. He also indicated that he was rebuilding the core of the club.
After the Rangers’ disastrous descent in the standings, Drury is actively trying to rebuild on the fly. Apparently disappointing forward Mika Zibanejad was part of a possible deal, but
the Canucks also wanted young defenseman Braden Schneider added to the package.
Drury doesn’t want to part ways with Schneider, meaning he could offer lightweight Dman horse Zac Jones instead.
This doesn’t seem to be what Vancouver wants, but I believe the two sides are still in discussions and that JT Miller could become a Ranger again. Only time will tell!
