When Nipper heard that SongCity announced the ten participants chosen for their inaugural INK retreat in November, he just had to find them, one by one. (And Nipper is a great tracker…) He traveled to Troy where he found Natalie Seagriff, as big a fan of Wilson tennis balls as Nipper himself. that of Nathalie solo recordings drawing inspiration from a wide variety of artists like Brandi Carlisle and Led Zeppelin, while recalling images of dusty trails and coffee shops. To learn a little more about the singer-songwriter, you can read Natalie’s answers to Nipper’s famous and very important 20 questions below.

I really enjoy learning about other people’s creative processes and connecting with
people – we are all unique and have our own perspective to bring. I’m ready to be a sponge and absorb everything.

Natalie on the INK retreat

  1. Describe your band or music…in 5 words or less, I have some food to chew on.
    ● Fleetwood Mac meets Indie Folk
  2. What is your pre-show ritual?
    ● Usually order an old-fashioned to get rid of stage nervousness and socialize as much as possible.
possible. Stops me from thinking too much
    !
  3. The best bathroom in the place?
    ● This one puzzles me because I can think of lots of great bathrooms, but none
I’m in a concert hall I’ve been to (or at least a notable one). But I can
think of lots of good concert halls…
  4. Favorite season?
    ● This one is tough because each season has its own vibe that I love – but summer is my
preferred mainly due to the longer days.
  5. Favorite app on your phone?
    ● Instagram
  6. Shorts on stage: yes or no?
    ● Yeah, especially if it’s hot.
  7. What came first, the music or the misery?
    ● In my mind, music has always been a part of the human experience to express all kinds of things.
of feelings… I would like to think that poverty is not always a catalyst for musical expression.
  8. The most beautiful words ever written?
    ● The biggest one for me (probably the most personal) is the chorus of the Our Lady Peace song “In
    Repair” of their
    Spiritual machines album:
‘Oh, I was good, I understood
Like a machine, they’ll fix you from the start
I’m under repair, the life we share
    I know I will last
But we are still under repair…’
  9. First concert you played?
    ● Special guest at Artisanal Brew Works in Saratoga Springs, New York
  10. How many voice memos do you have on your phone?
    ● 242
  11. Name something you wish you had in your fridge or pantry right now, but doesn’t.
    ● Cappelletti with brodo
  1. In our hypothetical game of fetch, what are you going to throw at me?
    ● Classic tennis ball… Wilson brand
  2. Books or films?
    ● When I have time, it’s books these days.
  3. Is a hot dog a sandwich?
    ● What alternate reality do we live in to consider a hot dog a sandwich???
  4. The last thing you bought on Amazon?
    ● A weighted vest.
  5. The last thing you watched on Netflix?
    ● Orange is the new black
  6. Tomato: fruit or vegetable?
    ● Seeds inside…it’s a fruit.
  7. If you could write a thesis on any subject, what would it be?
    ● Compulsory heterosexuality.
  8. The best breed of dog?
    ● I prefer dogs… my favorite dog is a corgi-lab mix, aka corgidor.
  9. Do you own any NFTs and if so, would you like to invest in my app that tracks
    squirrel locations?
    ● I had to Google it, so clearly the answer is no…
