Welcome back to This week in iRacing, our weekly article that breaks down everything you need to know about what’s happening in the world of iRacing!
This is a special week 13 edition of the publication as the service prepares for the latest release and new content for members to enjoy. As always, this week includes topics ranging from ffrom official eSports to some of the best community events, and everything in between.
Here’s what you need to know for Week 13 of Season 4 2023, December 5-11.
For members: highlights of the official iRacing series
Each week, iRacing offers daily or even hourly races that members can participate in, depending on their license level. There are also special series that take place at specific times in which anyone can participate, with the correct credentials, and which provide a more meaningful racing simulation experience. While many main series have ended their battles for Season 4, there will still be plenty happening in Week 13, both official and unofficial.
Here are some of the notable series happening this week.
WEEK 13 SERIES
On Tuesday, December 5, the 2024 version of Season 1 is set to release with new content and updates across the entire service. Members who want to access new content will have the chance to do so in some of our week-long series. New content in this version includes the Audi R8 LMS EVO II GT3, Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello and Slinger Speedway. For Oval racers in particular, Phase 1 of the Oval Refresh is to be delivered with the build and will also feature in the Week 13 festivities.
New batch of content and features for 2023 Season 4, Week 13:
- 13th Week GT3 Challenge – Corrected: GT3 (includes Audi R8 LMS EVO II GT3, Mugello)
- 13th Week Shiny New Shakedown: Super Late Model at Slinger
- 13th Ridiculous of the week: Mugello and NDM cars (HPD ARX-01c, Lotus 79, Street Stock)
- 13th iRacing Xfinity Challenge Week: Oval Refresh – Phase 1

IMSA ESPORTS OPEN CHALLENGE -> TIME ATTACK!
Announced just before the third round of the IMSA Esports Global Challenge at Sebring, the final round of the 2023 IMSA Esports Global Championship at Daytona International Speedway on December 16 will feature a support race titled the IMSA Esports iRacing Open Challenge, a 20-minute GT4. event bringing together 25 drivers from five different GT4 cars.
From December 6 to 10, Time Attack sessions will be offered to members to try to qualify for the event. The five cars included will be the Aston Martin Vantage GT4, BMW M4 GT4, McLaren 570S GT4, Mercedes-AMG GT4 and Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR. Each car will have to participate in a time trial. The five fastest eligible times for each car will be invited to race.
Members can attempt to qualify for multiple cars to try to secure a place on the grid, but those who competed in the World Championship are not permitted entry.

NASCAR iRACING WINTER SERIES
There is no NASCAR iRacing Series until the start of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season, so in its place for the winter is the Winter NASCAR iRacing Series (WNiS), a fixed-configuration, open series of similar structure that will use the 1987 NASCAR Cup Series cars. Week 5 will feature the 1987 cars at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
This week’s races are scheduled for:
Fixed schedule: Wednesday, 9:00 p.m. GMT; Friday, 02:00 GMT; Saturday, 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. GMT; Monday, 02:00 GMT
Open hours: Thursday, 02:00 and 19:00 GMT; Saturday, 02:00 GMT; Sunday, 3:00 p.m. GMT

Official iRacing ESports
As the calendar year comes to a close, most of iRacing’s official eSports are either on hiatus or preparing for their 2024 seasons. IMSA Esports only has one race left, mid-December. The eNASCAR College iRacing Series will not return until January 2024. Before the end of the year, however, there will be three more iRacing World of Outlaws events to watch, with the next scheduled for Monday evening.
iRACING WORLD OF OUTLAWS THRUSTMASTER SPRINT CAR SERIES
Thrustmaster is on board for the 2023-24 iRacing World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series season. The top of the standings was shaken last week when new points leader Alex Bergeron failed to qualify for the final race. Timothy Smith had a perfect night, leading every lap after setting the fastest lap in qualifying and winning convincingly at Williams Grove. Next up for the top-ranked dirt oval drivers is a trip to Lincoln Speedway, also in Pennsylvania, for race No. 4 of the season.
