At this stage of his career, Brittney Griner has already firmly established itself as one of the biggest players in the WNBA history. The 35-year-old veteran just completed his 12th season in the league and his first with the Atlanta Dream.
Griner joined the Dream in the offseason after spending the first 11 seasons of his career with the Phoenix Mercury. It was the Mercury who selected the 6-foot-9 center as the first overall pick in the 2013 WNBA Draft.

Griner began the 2025 season as Atlanta’s starter. However, for the first time in her career, she came off the bench for the latter part of the campaign. The former Baylor Bears star finished with a career-high 9.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 20.8 minutes per game.

Griner has been busy during the WNBA offseason. She is currently playing in the second season of the Unrivaled 3v3 league in Miami, Florida.
Griner is a member of the Vinyl Basketball Club. Some of her WNBA teammates include Courtney Williams, Rhyne Howard, and Dearica Hamby, to name a few. Their coach is Hall of Famer Teresa Weatherspoon.

On Wednesday, Griner took to social media to share an update on her second season of Unrivaled. She shared some of her favorite photos from their game against Hive Basketball Club on Monday.

Griner reached a career milestone when Vinyl defeated Hive, 74-71. Griner finished with 10 points, four rebounds and two blocks. In doing so, she struck 300 career points for Unparalleled.
As for her WNBA career, Griner is currently an unrestricted free agent. That means she’ll have to negotiate a new deal with the Dream or another team to determine which team she’ll be a good fit for in 2026.

While the league has already announced the schedule for the upcoming season, the negotiations with the players’ union on a new collective agreement are still in progress. There is always a possibility of a lockout unless both sides quickly find common ground.
