A Perth orthodontist has pleaded not guilty to choking a young boy during a junior football match in Perth’s north.
It is alleged that Steven James Naoum, a parent from a visiting team, approached the 11-year-old boy and dragged him by the neck.
The 46-year-old, who appeared in the Joondalup Magistrates’ Court today, was charged with obstructing another person’s breathing or normal blood circulation by applying pressure to the neck.

The accused is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on October 7 for trial.
Magistrate Gavin MacLan said Mr Naoum did not have to attend his trial and a lawyer could appear on his behalf.
A three-day trial is planned.
