Are you more optimistic about the twins’ future after Derek Falvey’s departure?

Hello everyone! Welcome to our new series of daily questions for the month of February. As spring training approaches, we want to hear your thoughts on what 2026 has in store for your Minnesota Twins. Let’s get excited about baseball!

After nine years leading the Minnesota Twins, Derek Falvey and the Twins have agreed to part ways (however, other reports from Dan Hayes And Aaron Gleeman certainly indicates that the decision was more on Falvey’s side after disagreements over the future of the franchise with new owner Tom Pohlad). General manager Jeremy Zoll, at least for the 2026 season, will lead baseball operations in the meantime

While the timing is certainly suspect, arguments have been made on both sides to move on after nearly a decade. Falvey modernized a baseball operations department that was stuck in 1995 under Terry Ryan and turned their long-standing coaching and development woes into a strength. Coaches, scouts and front office personnel have held important positions on some of baseball’s best teams like the Yankees, Dodgers and Red Sox, among others.

Perhaps because of the brain drain caused by replacing these poached positions each season, the Twins had definitely stagnated over the past four or so seasons. While much of that can be blamed on Pohlads after repeated budget cuts coming from their elite 2023, Falvey and the Twins have also been unable to develop top prospects into productive hitters in MLB, with former Top 100 prospects like Royce Lewis, Alex Kirilloff, Austin Martin, Jose Miranda, Brooks Lee and Edouard Julien unable to live up to their billing. However, Falvey should also be recognized for repeatedly developing starters and relievers beyond expectations.

SO, Was parting ways with Falvey the right decision? And on a related note, what would you like to see Jeremy Zoll improve as the new boss? Is there enough time for Zoll to feasibly fix the major holes in this roster? Can he find someone to take over Trevor Larnach and his ultra-redundant role on this roster?
