Sam Leavitt appeared to have his recruitment sorted, but his commitment is now suddenly in question as negotiations continue behind the scenes.

After reports surfaced that the top transfer quarterback had committed to LSU and Lane Kiffin, sources said. Le3 that no documents had been signed and that Tennessee remained firmly in the race.
Vols officials and Leavitt’s camp reportedly remained in “regular contact” throughout Monday and were never informed he was bound for LSU. Negotiations are ongoing with Tennessee preparing a final offer for Leavitt and his representatives.
This adds an interesting wrinkle to the situation because Kiffin is in desperate need of a quarterback. The market to land Leavitt climbed to between $4 million and $5 million and was fueled by competition in a three-team battle between LSU, Tennessee and Miami.

Leavitt left his visit to Miami on Sunday without committing and returned to Arizona to talk with his camp. Landing him would be important for Kiffin, who is still looking for a clear QB1 despite the addition of Elon transfer Landen Clark.
