A 2-0 week highlighted by two wins against SEC teams wasn’t enough for UConn men’s basketball to advance in this week’s AP Poll, as the 10-1 Huskies remained at No. 5 for the third straight week. UConn got revenge on Tuesday for the number 1 at the time. 18 Florida in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden, then closed out its non-conference slate with a home win over Texas on Friday night.

St. John’s is once again the only other Big East school to join the Huskies in the top 25, at No. 22, but Seton Hall and Villanova also received votes. Arizona, UConn’s only loss this season, remains in first place after beating Alabama convincingly in a neutral-site game. The Huskies have four wins this season against teams currently ranked in the poll at No. 10 BYU, No. 17 Illinois, No. 18 Kansas and No. 23 Florida.

The Huskies open Big East play this week with two matchups before Christmas. Butler arrives in Hartford Tuesday night after a double-overtime win over Providence in its conference opener Saturday. Next, UConn takes its first conference road trip of the year when it visits DePaul in Chicago on Sunday.

When it comes to net rating, UConn fell one spot from a week ago to No. 8 despite going 2-0 and picked up another Quad One win over Florida. Butler, No. 43 in NET, will be a Quad Two opportunity, and DePaul (No. 147 in NET) will likely be a Quad Three matchup. At KenPom, UConn ranks No. 7 overall, No. 17 in offensive efficiency and No. 8 in defensive efficiency.
