The NCAA challenges a report that six male basketball players from Wofford were deemed inadmissible for the reception of “inadmissible advantages”.

According to the report of Jeff Goodman’s field of 68 Published on Thursday, unidentified players were allowed to use meal plans provided to students accommodated in dormitories while living in apartments outside campuses. Inappropriate advantages varied from $ 84 to $ 108 in value.

THE NCAA Public Relations Department Published a quote-tweet response to a message on X entering the original ON3 report.

“The NCAA did not suspend students athletes in (Wofford) and did not take any measure against any staff in the sports department of this school,” added the press release.

Wofford did not make any announcements concerning players deemed ineligible.

School Basketball coach licensed Dwight Perry and the head coach Tysor Anderson last week for unknown reasons. Last season, the burrows finished 19-16 and won the southern conference tournament to obtain an automatic place in the NCAA tournament. Wofford continued to lose Tennessee in the first round.

Lawyer Mark Peper – who represents four of the players would have declared ineligible, and seven players in total on the alignment of male Wofford basketball – said that the six players had been informed by Wofford that they would be hosted in higher class dormitories on campus. Five of them were transferred from other schools.

However, the players were placed in subclasses dormitories instead and then rented an apartment outside campus. School officials were informed of Anderson’s decision.

Five days after the fall, the lessons started in Wofford, the five athletes were invited to break their lease to remain eligible. They did it on September 3. Two weeks later, the players would have been informed that the NCAA had directed them inadmissible to the use of their meal plans on the campus while living out campus.

Peper said in An interview with Marc Whiteman from Wyff That the use of meal plans violated Wofford’s regulations, not NCAA rules, and that players have never been informed that the plans could not be used.

In addition, players want Perry and Anderson to be reintegrated in their positions since athletes have been transferred to Wofford to play for them.

“Based on my investigation this week, nothing indicates that before this out-of-campus meal plan, coach Perry was not in danger of being withdrawn as a head coach of Wofford”, ” Peper said to Whiteman.

“I can only speak for my players, who all said in uncertain terms, both in writing and during meetings this week with various administrators, which they are here to play for coach Perry,” he added.

With Perry’s dismissal, Wofford’s male basketball players have a 30 -day window to enter the transfer portal under NCAA rules. Peper said that players he represents could explore entry into the portal if Perry and Anderson did not recover their work.

Deputy coach Drew Gibson was appointed acting coach after Perry’s dismissal. If the six players – or more – decide to transfer, it could leave Wofford unable to align a team two months before the 2025-26 season should unlock.
