Angel Reese and Dijonai Carrington say that WNBA players are ready to embark on strike in the next ABC negotiations

The WNBA has experienced part of the best growth in its history in the past two years, but it makes its next ABC negotiations all the more crucial.

Two of the best players in the League, Angel Reese of Sky and Dijonai Carrington de Chicago, Dallas Wings, said on the Reese podcast, “shameless Angel”, that the players are fully ready to attend matches if the WNBA does not respond to its terms.

Reese and Carrington noted that the recruits of the 2026 season are about to benefit a lot from the probable bump in the base salary before suggesting that meetings with WNBPA have discussed the possibility of a strike:

“I have to participate in meetings because I hear like:” If you don’t give ourselves what we want, we sit down. “”

“This is a possibility. For real.”

Last year, WNBA players withdrew from the current ABC, which was to expire in 2027. They will still play the 2025 season under the current ABC rules, but that only leaves a year before the two parties should conclude an agreement.

This ABC negotiation was widely expected since the league notes began to skyrocket after Caitlin Clark entered the League, although they already increased moderately before it. The last match of the WNBA 2024 final, which did not understand Clark, saw a 142% increase in grades compared to the game equivalent last year.

The wages and benefits of the WNBA have always been low enough to require a supplement with sponsorship agreements and appearances in other leagues, even for the largest stars of the WNBA. Many are changing in the league, and players are unlikely to allow numbers to continue to increase without part of the value there is.

Reese, Who said once she didn’t think her WNBA salary even paid one of her invoiceshas just come out of a star season with the sky in its own right. Carrington, the most improved player in the WNBA 2024, was exchanged on the wings last month after four years with the Connecticut Sun.
