Paul George says NCAA’s unfair treatment of players is a ‘slap in the face’

The NCAA made negative waves this weekend over how it treated women’s basketball teams.

Players who were excited to participate in March Madness found themselves faced with disrespectful and small weight rooms. Paul George called out the NCAA’s lack of respect after the Clippers beat the Charlotte Hornets.

“It wasn’t good,” George said. “The NCAA, they’re wrong for that. When you look at the space they had and the equipment they had originally. They have the same dedication, they put their bodies on the line, the same way the men.”

For those who may not have seen the original viral video showing the gap, here it is.

George added that it was great that the NCAA corrected their mistake, but that it was a “slap in the face” that they released it.

The gap between men’s and women’s basketball has been a hot topic for years. There are countless examples of women being treated unfairly. What is new, however, is the attention that male players are paying to the situation. Years ago, you didn’t see All-Star players like Paul George standing up for their female counterparts. Paul George wasn’t the only NBA player to speak out against unfair treatment, he was joined by Steph Curry.

Paul George and the Clippers are in the middle of a very long home game where they hope to solidify their position in the Western Conference. Their next game is Monday against the Atlanta Hawks.
