As summer approaches, the most obvious movement is the Celtics could do to shake up the roster was trade Kemba Walker. This happened faster than you can say “wait, Brad Stevens is now president of basketball operations?” It now appears that the next most obvious move the Celtics could make is to trade Tristan Thompson.
Adding Al Horford and Moses Brown to a roster that already has Robert Williams and Thompson gives the Celtics 4 centers. And that’s not even taking into account small-ball lineups. Sure, Horford is old, Williams is struggling to stay off the injured list, and Moses Brown is untested at best. Having another center on the list would therefore be good insurance. I’m just not sure spending $40+ million on centers is a good use of the cap. Especially since there are other holes in the roster that need to be filled.
So here is your chance to fix this problem. Find us some plausible trade ideas where Brad Stevens can send Tristan Thompson and get a nice return. Post your ideas in the comments section below and be kind to everyone’s ideas. Actually, here’s a challenge: before you criticize someone’s idea, publish your own first. Have fun!
