RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — Zheng Qinwen defeated Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova 6-3, 7-5 to book her place in the final of the WTA Finals on Friday.
Zheng continued his remarkable season by reaching the final in his first appearance. The Chinese player has won 31 of her 36 matches since Wimbledon, more than anyone on the tour.
She will face Coco Gauff or first Aryna Sabalenka in Saturday’s final. They played their semi-final later on Friday.
Zheng hit nine aces as she beat a tired-looking Krejcikova in 1 hour and 40 minutes.
