Trae Young scored a three-pointer with 7.4 seconds left in overtime to give the Atlanta Hawks a 134-132 home victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.
Young was the Hawks’ leading scorer, with 31 points and 20 assists, while De’Andre Hunter added 26 off the bench as Atlanta earned a sixth straight victory.
The Lakers suffered a third straight loss, despite the efforts of the NBA’s all-time leading scorer LeBron James, who had 39 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds, while Anthony Davis scored 38 points.
James had a chance to win for the Lakers with the last shot of the game, but his three-pointer hit the rim of the basket and bounced out.
The reigning NBA champions Boston Celtics extended their home winning streak to seven games with a 111-105 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Celtics trailed by four points late in the fourth quarter but rallied, thanks in part to Jayson Tatum’s game-high 34 points and 10 rebounds.
Damian Lillard’s 31 points had the Bucks in winning position, while Giannis Antetokounmpo added 30 points and 11 rebounds.
Elsewhere, Philadelphia 76ers bounced back from a home loss to the Orlando Magic to win the second game of their two-game series 102-94.
The 76ers were missing star player Joel Embiid with a knee injury, but Paul George stepped in to lead the hosts’ scoring with 21 points.
Anthony Edwards led the Minnesota Timberwolves to a fifth straight victory over the Golden State Warriors, scoring 30 points in their 107-90 victory in San Francisco, with the two teams facing off again on Sunday.
Utah Jazz ended a five-game losing streak with a dominating 141-99 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, while Kings of Sacramento had an equally conclusive victory against the San Antonio Spurs, winning 140-113.
And Tyrese Haliburton scored 23 points for the Indiana Pacers in their 132-123 victory over the Chicago Bulls as the visitors notched a first win in five games.
