When the WNBA and the players union met Monday in New York, the league promised a new collective bargaining agreement proposal. He delivered that offer on Friday, Feb. 6, a person with knowledge of the negotiations told USA TODAY Sports. Details of the new proposal were not available.

WNBPA President Nneka Ogwumike said the associated press As of Friday, the gap between the two sides on issues such as revenue sharing continues to be wide. But the players’ union wants to close it and avoid a lockout or strike.

“I know our players want to play 100 percent this year,” she said. “We want a season.

“We argued that once we get (revenue sharing) right, we can do everything else.”

Players ask for 30% of gross revenue. Both the league’s previous proposal offered more than 70 percent of net revenue. The WNBA’s previous offer also included a maximum base salary of $1 million, with a projected revenue sharing component that brings maximum total player earnings to more than $1.3 million in 2026.

THE the regular season is scheduled to begin on May 8. But before that happens, the Toronto Tempo and Portland Fire will have an expansion draft. Free agency and the WNBA draft are also scheduled to take place.

WNBA players authorized the union’s executive committee to “call a strike when necessary” in December.

“Having the strike on the table is something that we are very conscious of, but there are so many other conversations that need to be had,” Ogwumike told the AP. “You know, we’re not just going to say, ‘Hey, today’s the big day (we’re going to strike).’ You know, I think what we’re demonstrating right now is that we’re negotiating in good faith.”
