WNBA fans are thinking about star guard Skylar Diggins on Monday.

Diggins, 35, is personally going through a difficult time. The former Notre Dame Fighting Irish star, who plays for the Seattle Storm of the Women’s National Basketball Association, had a big 2025 season. She averaged 15.5 points, 6.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game for the Storm.

But off the field, Diggins is going through a tough time. Diggins and her husband, former Notre Dame wide receiver Daniel Smith, married in 2017. The couple has two children together. But they separated in November 2024 and officially divorced earlier in 2025.

Diggins announced Monday that she is doing her best to be strong for herself and her children.

“I’ve been doing everything BY MYSLF (sic) for over a year now,” Diggins said. “Just me and my babies (and my mom/dad’s help.) THAT’S ALL!”

“Working, paying the bills, being a present mother and battling many unknowns…God’s strongest soldier in 2025.”

WNBA fans think of Diggins

“This is so sad because they were such a beautiful couple,” one wrote.

“Thinking about her during this time. Give her privacy,” one shared.

“I’m here Skylar if you need me!” another fan wrote.

“Praying for Skylar and her family today. Divorce is never easy, especially with young children,” a fan added.

Diggins, meanwhile, is looking forward to the 2026 WNBA season, as a newly single woman and mother of two.
