Brittney Griner remains one of the most accomplished veterans in women’s basketball. A season 12 WNBA A star and champion, she was a dominant force in the paint for much of her career, winning a title with the Phoenix Mercury. Griner has earned 10 All-Star selections and is a two-time Defensive Player of the Year. She also represented the United States internationally, winning three Olympic gold medals.
In 2025, Grinner joined the Atlanta Dream on a one-year contract. She averaged 9.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 39 games and helped her team finish with the third-best record in the league, earning a playoff spot.

This offseason, Griner continued to compete in Unrivaled, the high-profile 3×3 women’s basketball league featuring top talent. Playing for Vinyl BC, she helped the team secure a playoff spot after beating the Lunar Owls 75-68 on Monday. Griner complemented Rae Burrell’s 30-point performance with 12 points, while converting six of her nine shots from the field.
Following the win, Griner took to Instagram on Tuesday to celebrate the team’s accomplishments. She posted photos and clips of playing the Beastie Boys’ “No Sleep Till Brooklyn,” garnering congratulatory messages from fans and colleagues.

Among the responses was Chicago Sky Before Angel Reesewhose Rose BC team also clinched a playoff spot on Sunday. Reese playfully commented on Griner’s musical choice: “stop, I’m stealing this song lmfaoo.” »
Reese, who won the defensive player award at last year’s tournament, announced his return to Unrivaled and has since played in two games, including Sunday’s decisive playoff victory over the Laces.
The six qualified teams – The Phantom, Laces, Mist, Breeze, Vinyl and Rose – will now compete for seeding at the end of the regular season.
