The WNBA 2025 season is closer and the league will lack familiar faces.
From the future temple of renown to role players, the WNBA said goodbye to familiar faces for the coming season.

Here are some of the players who have announced their retirement.
Diana Taurasi
The triple champion of the WNBA and the top scorer of all time ended his career after 20 seasons in the League, all with the Phoenix Mercury on February 25.
“I really thought of playing again, but I knew that in my heart, I was physically, mentally just full of basketball game,” said Taurasi. “Everything that gave me in life. The ups and downs, the trips. Incredible smiles, the frowning, the championships. It has always been with a group of people who always care about this game.”

Elena Delle gives
The double MVP of the WNBA announced its retirement on April 4 via Instagram.

Delle gives said that her body “seemed to make this decision before my mind accepted it”.
She won a WNBA title with the mystics of Washington in 2019, but was hampered by several back surgeries and did not play in the League in 2024.
Danielle Robinson
Robinson retired on January 1 after 12 seasons with The San Antonio Stars (2011-15), Phoenix Mercury (2017), Lynx (2018-19), Las Vegas Aces (2020), Indiana Fever (2021-22) and more recently The Atlanta Dream (2023).
Layshia Clarendon
THE Los Angeles Sparks Guard retired on September 20 after playing 284 games in 12 seasons with six teams.
Clarendon, an all-star 2017, collected an average of 7.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists.
