A look at the winners and losers from the weekend in Bristol.
Winners
Kyle Larson — He led 462 of the 500 laps and won by seven seconds to claim his fifth victory of the season.
Hendrick Motorsports — Kyle Larson won the race and Chase Elliott finished second. Alex Bowman finished ninth, putting three of the team’s cars in the top 10.
Bubba Wallace — His third-place finish gives him six top-fives and 11 top-10s this season. Both results are career highs in Cup.
Stewart-Haas Racing — For the second straight race, the organization had two cars in the top 10. Ryan Preece was seventh and Chase Briscoe eighth. Briscoe advanced to the second round of the playoffs. On Friday, Cole Custer won the Xfinity race.
Layne Riggs — He won the truck race, giving him back-to-back series victories.
The Losers
Martin Truex Jr. — He ran in the top five for 327 of the first 332 laps before a pit lane speeding penalty dropped him out of the top 20. He was unable to recover, finishing 24th and failing to qualify for the second round.
Ty Gibbs — A speeding penalty in the pits after the end of the first stage left him stuck outside the top 20 for most of the second stage and cost him stage points. He made it into the top 10 on the final stage but burned his tyres and dropped back to 15th at the finish and failed to qualify for the second stage.
Corey LaJoie — Eliminated in an accident and having finished 36th in his last race with Spire Motorsports, he joins Rick Ware Racing this weekend in Kansas while Justin Haley joins Spire Motorsports.
