Ryan Blaney took a flawless victory in Martinsville NASCAR race Sunday.
Blaney, the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series champion, will race for a championship after advancing to Championship 4 for next weekend at Phoenix Raceway. Blaney led 31 laps to win the Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway.
The No. 12 Team Penske Ford driver got ahead of Chase Elliott with 13 laps to go and headed for the checkered flag.
Christopher Bell made a move at Turn 4 to pass Bubba Wallacesimilar to the decision Ross Chastain made in 2022. He was eliminated from the playoffs after a safety violation penalty for what was called a wall ride. William Byron secured the final playoff spot after Bell’s penalty.
Bell was moved from 18th to 22nd, the last car a lap ahead and officially out of the playoffs.
