The starting order of NASCAR Cup Series YellaWood 500 playoff race to Talladega Superspeedway was fixed.
Michael McDowell in the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports car will once again lead the field to green at Talladega in 2024, earning his second straight pole at the track and his sixth of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season. He will be joined in the front row by Austin Cindric. McDowell is joined in the top five by teammate Todd Gilliland. He is on the second line with Kyle Busch.
The first drivers in the playoffs are Penske teammates Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano, who make up the third row. Denny Hamlin is the only other playoff driver in the top 10, but Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson start on the sixth row, leading a host of playoff drivers behind them. Chase Briscoe is the furthest starting playoff driver, starting in 36th place.
