Outdoor games are a subject of polarizing university basketball that never seems to disappear completely. While the series of classic carriers played on aircraft carriers between 2011 and 2022 is distinguished as an excellent example of an outdoor showcase, a more recent precedent to play in a football stadium was created in 2023.
The Women’s Iowa Basketball team welcomed Depaul inside the Hawkeyes football stadium in an October 2023 exhibition nicknamed the “crossover at Kinnick”. A huge 55,646 fans went for the competition, which collected funds for the children’s hospital at Iowa University.
Some fans surely needed binoculars to follow basketball, but the game nevertheless made a show. It was a sufficient success for the idea that basketball was played inside a football stadium generated a buzz on the male side.
Kentucky sports director Mitch Barnhart swrooved speculation this week when he Has not exactly shot down the possibility of the Wildcats using Kroger Field for a basketball match. “Why not?” He said, adding that “you have to be open to anything”.
If a basketball fans could fill a football stadium, it’s Big Blue Nation. But football stadiums are just a potential option for unique university basketball places. For this week’s dribble transfer, our writers choose external sites out of the wall where they would like to see a university basketball match.
Iowa vs iowa state (Field of Dreams)
The NBA would have planned to host a game on what is commonly called “Field of Dreams”, the baseball field built in Dyersville, Iowa which was made famous by the film Kevin Costner of the same name.
Logistically, the NBA concluded, it would be difficult.
But it is not impossible! So let’s understand it!
The Iowa University is 80 miles away. The Iowa State University is another but even less than three hours. Keeping the tribunal for condensation could be a challenge. And somewhat cold temperatures could be a concern. But if MLB could find a way to organize an event in the middle of a farm, I hope that an intelligent and ambitious basketball person could do the same. So, once again, let’s discover it and do the iowa against the Isu of Field of Dreams – with the local legend Caitlin Clark Sitting short, just because. – Gary Parrish
Illinois vs Missouri (Gateway Arch)
I don’t know if it is logistically, but the demand here was to think about an outside place that would be outside the beaten track. Well, it’s under the ark. If you have never been to the bow or you cannot imagine what surrounds him, no worries, I provide an image. Just know that there are a lot of real estate under this beautiful monument of inclined steel. Do you tell me that we cannot reach a way to bring 12,000 people to look at this environment?

A beautiful place with a sufficient area to set up a temporary court, stands, concessions, changing rooms, all.
Illinois-Missouri is the only option for a game in these surroundings. And the two fans’ bases would probably love it, even if as a single off.
There is only one potential hooping: temperature. Now, Parrish has just repelled by playing outside in Iowa, but St. Louis is actually a place that could overcome this. We would need the Braggin rights game to open the season in the first week of November to have a chance for comfortable temperatures. I looked for it: the average average temperature of St. Louis on November 5 in these parts is 60 degrees. It’s doable in the sun! And, yes, this game should be played under natural light. The Gateway Arch stands proudly on the banks of the Mississippi river, which divides the state lines between Missouri and Illinois. What a better framework for an annual rivalry game which is always played on a neutral courtyard – in Saint -Louis, nothing less.

USC vs Texas (Rose Bowl)
The USC and Texas have undoubtedly produced one of the best university football matches in modern history in the historic place of Rose Bowl in 2006. I say that we have it brought back between the two schools and put hard wood on the grill to make it one of the most picturesque games of university basketball.
We can make sure that Matt Leinart is launching the opening tip, Vince Young can be closest to the right corner of the north end zone and Reggie Bush may be responsible for presenting money, gifts and other advantages for participants. A certain nostalgia to look at the heads of the old and a fresh landscape in a new environment. It should be one thing.
Rose Bowl is synonymous with great sports – reception of super bowls and national championships at the Olympic Games and World Cups. You can put two basketball teams here and it would be a huge draw. Put the Texas and the USC here, however, and you get the eyes of football and basketball fans attracted by two major powers which are ready to get into their respective league in the coming years. – Kyle Boone
Army vs navy (white house lawn)
The Army-Navy football match is a confrontation of autonomous rivalry which attracts significant national attention each year. But the two annual basketball games between the enemies of the Patriot League never receive a lot of buzz, which is a shame. To remedy this – and to provide a little pop to the opening day of university basketball – the university basketball season should turn the lawn of the White House. Alternatively, veterans’ day could be an option. Anyway, an afternoon in early November should Be hot enough to make the hoops plausible. If it should be less than 50 degrees in Tipoff, just have the center of George Washington reserve.
President Barack Obama played basketball matches in the White House on the tennis court, which was changed for his habit of hoops. But think bigger: a court going from west to east and the Truman balcony used essentially as a result of luxury overlooking the intermediate court. For logistical and security reasons, attendance should be capped at around 2,500, which would give the game an intimate feeling. Waiting times and half-time would be filled various tributes to the armed forces. The cadets of each academy could be seated behind the baskets to add authentic college hoops to the environment. – David COBB
Seton Hall against St. John’s (Rucker Park)
The cream of the Rucker Park cream is the cream of the Blacktop Hoops cream. The story of Rucker Park is unequaled for an outside place, and Seton Hall and St. John’s are two of the largest local attractions.
Rick Pitino struts the sidewalk with a white suit against Shaheen Holloway, one of the best goalkeepers in New York at the time, would be so appropriate. This would not break the presence records, but that’s the point. – Isaac Trotter
