Oklahoma Earlier are off to a 7-0 start to the 2024-25 college basketball season after going 3-0 in the Bahamas, winning the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament title.
Along the way, the Sooners picked up their first top-25 win of the season, defeating the Arizona Wildcats, and also picked up wins against Providence and Louisville.
The trio of games represented Oklahoma’s most important tests of the season, and the Sooners passed with flying colors.
The Sooners rose to No. 40 nationally in the KenPom Ranking put together by college basketball analyst Ken Pomeroy. This places the Sooners 9th in the SEC in its ranking system. The rankings are intended to be a predictive indicator for each Division 1 basketball team.
Offensively, the Sooners rank 40th in the nation, according to KenPom. They are No. 44 in the country on the defensive side of the ball.
Senior Jalon Moore, true freshman Jeremiah Fears and guard Kobe Elvis led the way for Oklahoma during the tournament. Moore and Fears each had two 20-point games during their time in Atlantis.
Moore scored 24 points in OU’s two wins over Arizona and Louisville and was named tournament MVP. Fears led the team in scoring with 26 points in the win over Arizona and scored 20 against Providence to open the tournament. Elvis led OU in scoring in the win over Providence.
Porter Moser and his team have put together a team with multiple scoring threats and a team that plays with tenacity down the stretch.
Oklahoma’s next opportunity to build on its undefeated start to the season comes on Dec. 6 when it hosts Georgia Tech of the ACC. Yellow jackets and senior guard Javian McCollum.
