Offseason? What offseason?
College coaches travel the country for spring evaluation recruiting periods, and those back on campus scour the now-closed NCAA transfer portal to see if there’s perhaps a guy overlooked by others who might be a good fit.
Plus, leagues are gearing up for their annual meetings and discussion season – conference media days – is just two months away.
The Southeastern Conference holds its annual meetings in Destin, Florida, at the end of the month, and the division of league revenue is always a big topic at these meetings.
Which, in general, around college athletics, sparks a lot of the conversation.
The same goes for logistics, especially with conference expansion and renegotiated broadcast packages – chief among them Notre Dame – which are still there to define today’s new market (which, of course, will change whenever there is inevitably a change in form for the conference’s next round of mercenaries).
And what about the fact that the Iowa and Iowa State athletic programs are at the center of the state gaming commission’s investigation due to gambling by student-athletes?
Not to be ignored, Zach Barnett dives into the social media phenomenon that is “Baby Gronk.”
All of these topics plus a teaser for an upcoming podcast examining Deion Sanders, aka “Coach Prime,” and the Colorado Buffaloes in 2023.
