It can be difficult to decipher what’s real and what’s not due to the tampering of the NCAA transfer portal. Many fans are curious about this, so here are some examples of what seems to be happening.
First of all, the question is why a player enters the transfer portal in the first place. Was a football player recruited into the transfer portal by another college football program or did it happen organically? This is the problem that is brought up quite often, but few people seem to know how to stop it.
Head coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks Shane Beamer definitely had questions based on comments from the 2023 SEC spring meetings. The Gamecocks lost key players from their 2022 team like running back Mar Shawn Lloyd in Southern California. THE Hourly was surprising according to Beamer.
“It was strange based on the conversations I had with the guys two or three days before they entered the portal. It’s interesting to see how things work out.”
For those of us who work in recruiting media, cheating to get talent is not a new topic. Many programs have offered money, cars and other perks to high school football recruits for decades.
That being said, the ability to seduce a college player into entering the transfer portal and then enrolling at another school could be considered worse.
For what? Because a lot of these players who suddenly left had already become established players under another college football coach. You could say this practice is as sneaky as it gets.
Allow the player to become a proven talent. Then go ahead and get him to transfer to another college football program. Of course, it is important to know which schools are – or are not – involved.
Recently, there has been lots of talk on whether Alabama has made overtures toward Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita. According to CFB statistics, he is a signalman. who finished 72.4% of his passes as a redshirt freshman in 2023, while also throwing for 2,869 yards and 25 touchdowns.
His father, The Fifitas, commented on the situation several times. The first time came via The Athletic and here is the quote in question.
“Alabama was the only one we were really interested in outside of Arizona and staying and obviously Washington.”
Since news started spreading this Alabama and the head coach Kalen DeBoer Allegedly falsified information began to arise, the elder Fifita posted on X and gave a quote that differs from the original quote.
Given the various comments, it is practically impossible to say whether Bama falsified or not. This is an interesting case and one that is currently shining on social media, as Alabama is a college football powerhouse and part of the SEC. This discussion leads to the next point.
This overall topic is likely to gain more importance as the offseason continues ahead of the next transfer portal window. who operates from April 16 to 30. Don’t be surprised if more tampering news arises at a number of college football programs.
In the end, it’s difficult to definitively prove which players are traded and which ones make transfer decisions themselves. Until more is known, college football fans should at least be careful not to believe that a player is moving from one school to another without any warning.
