December 23 marked a big day in Kurt Busch’s career, as NASCAR bestowed upon him one of its highest honors by inducting him into the Hall of Fame. The moment became even more special when the sanctioning body selected a personal presenter to deliver the introduction. On stage to pay tribute to him was his younger brother, Kyle Buschthe same brother who watched Kurt begin his journey to stardom.
As he inducted his older brother, Kyle reflected on the roots that shaped them both, anchoring the celebration where it all began.

“I couldn’t be more proud of my brother Kurt” Kyle said on stage. “They were just two kids from Las Vegas, Nevada, raised in a blue-collar, hard-working family. Where hard work wasn’t optional. We were taught to do it and make it happen.”
“None of this has been easy, and in this job, it shouldn’t be.” » he continued, highlighting their struggle. “And seeing Kurt believe in himself long before the results showed up was an incredible experience that I learned from. This Hall of Fame induction isn’t just about the wins or the stats, it’s also about the years of effort, resilience and heart it took to get here.

What a tremendous career you’ve had in NASCAR, not only in the Cup Series, but as an Xfinity Series winner, Truck Series winner, just all the many highlights that you’ve been able to give to all the racing fans.”

“I feel like, whether you were celebrating under showers of champagne or facing adversity face to face, you were someone who could, you could always look up to and, in a way, model yourself after that, so congratulations on this great honor and I look forward to seeing you inducted into the Hall of Fame.”
From Kurt’s early reputation as an “outlaw” to his evolution as a veteran driver and mentor, his racing story speaks for itself. His NASCAR accomplishments include the 2004 NASCAR Cup Series championship, 34 Cup Series victories and top-10 finishes in the championship standings over 10 separate seasons. But many of his achievements go beyond these brilliant accolades.
For example, unlike many others, Kurt has enjoyed success with various teams, winning races for Roush Racing, Team Penske, Furniture Row Racing, Stewart-Haas Racing, Chip Ganassi Racing and 23XI Race.
Then, in 2010, Busch achieved the rare feat of winning both the Coca-Cola 600 and the All-Star Race in the same season. Seven years later, he won the Daytona 500 driving for Stewart-Haas Racing.

In 2014, he took on “The Double”, competing in the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day. He finished sixth at Indianapolis, earning Rookie of the Race honors, before a mechanical failure cut short his run at Charlotte when the engine failed on lap 273, ending his day 191 miles short of 1,100 miles.
Busch won at least one Cup race in 19 different seasons over a span of 21 full-time years. Beyond the Cup level, he added five victories in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and four in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, as well as a second-place finish in the 2000 Truck Series standings.
He also built a reputation as a short-track specialist, taking six victories at Bristol Motor Speedway alone, best described by his back-to-back victories in 2002, 2003 and 2004.
