Polk County golfers have been on the course for weeks in 2024. And with their recent outings under their belt, the FHSAA rankings have become all the more valid.
A Winter Haven senior golfer and two-time The Ledger Golfer of the Year, Antoine Monteleonewas at one point the No. 1 male golfer in Florida in 2024. But with the FHSAA’s tracking system constantly updating, he is now the No. 2 player in the state, but still ahead of golfers such as Charlie Woods — Tiger Woods’ son. The senior captain was medalist (individual winner) in three of the four major tournaments played and second in a fourth tournament by two strokes.
“His dedication to the sport is evident every time he steps on the golf course and practices,” said Winter Haven head golf coach Charlie James.
Others in Florida’s top 100 for boys and girls golf are Frostproof seventh-grader Jordan Castillo (80), two-time The Ledger Girls Golfer of the Year, Darby Hancock (67) ) senior Kathleen and Frostproof freshman Hannah Castillo (83). ).
