US Soccer will elect a new vice president at its annual general meeting, which will be held February 8-10 in Dallas. On Episode 124candidate Nathan Goldbergformer assistant general manager of NJ/NY Gotham FC, joins the show to answer questions on several topics facing American soccer.
The governance of the federation is something fans should be well informed about, and through our interview with Goldberg, we learn why he wants to join the board as vice president and what he hopes to accomplish in this role. We cover topics such as youth development, player safety, increased fan accessibility, increased diversity and inclusion, how to increase our pool of coaches and referees, and how to bring together each of the member associations and work with the professional football leagues. Goldberg shares his thoughts on many issues to show why he believes he is best suited to help lead the federation alongside President Cindy Parlow Cone and CEO JT Batson.
We’ll be hosting interviews next week with Dr. Pete Zopfi, the other U.S. Soccer vice presidential candidate who opposes Nathan Goldberg, as well as Mike Cullina, who was a candidate until his recent withdrawal from the race. We hope to cover as many topics as possible that are important to fans in an effort to engage you in the governance process. If you have a question for candidates, submit it on our Google form!
