We are discussing the October window for the WNT.
The USA Soccercast recaps the USWNTthe October window on Episode 119. The October window was a bit of a struggle for the USWNT, who faced Colombia in two friendlies last weekend. The first match ended in a scoreless stalemate, with the USWNT seemingly making no attempt to change anything from what we had seen this year before the Women’s World Cup.
In the second friendly, the first half repeated some of these tactics and failed personnel decisions. However, with the substitution of a few new young players at half-time, the dynamic changed. We discuss how Mia Fishel and Jaedyn Shaw should prompt a thorough review of the program and should renew the desire of many to integrate young people into the fabric of this team to make it their own, especially with the W. Gold Cup and the Olympics are approaching in 2024.
After the hiatus, the USWNT head coaching search may be coming to an end, and US Soccer appears to be reduced to three finalists: Australia head coach Tony Gustavsson Juventus head coach Joe Montemurro and OL Reign FC head coach Laura Harvey. We discuss the pros and cons of these coaches, as well as the program’s priorities when hiring the next head coach.
