What looked like a rout became a battle with 18 holes remaining in the 100th anniversary edition of the Sally Championship at Oceanside Country Club.
Amélie Zelsman, who started the day seven shots back, shot an under-par 64 on Friday and found herself tied for first place with Mia Hammond, who started the day six shots ahead.

They stand at 15-under 201 through 54 holes and they’re not exactly alone. Just three shots behind is Kary Hollenbaugh, who has won the last two Sally tournaments. Hollenbaugh shot 68 Friday to stay within reach of a possible three-peat.

Hammond’s round was damaged late with a double bogey 7 on the par-5 17th hole. With a bogey, that led Hammond to a 1-over 37 on the back nine, while Zelsman played the second nine in 4-under 32 – this was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 12th.
The next closest golfer to the top three is Alexandra Gazzoli of Palm Coast, who shot 68 Friday and is alone in fourth at 5 under par.
