Following the NASCAR Cup Series inspection at EchoPark Speedway (Atlanta), NASCAR revealed that two Chevrolet teams failed pre-qualifying inspection twice.

The first was Austin Dillon and number 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet. Car boss Ryan Chism was forced out and can no longer participate in the race weekend from the track, and the team will lose pit selection. Dillon’s car was successful on its third attempt.

The second driver/team to fail inspection twice was BJ McLeod and the No. 78 Live-Fast Motorsports Chevrolet – a part-time, uncharted entry. Car boss Ryan Henderson was forced out and the team will also lose its pit selection for the upcoming race weekend.

NASCAR said the No. 78 will be inspected in the morning for its third attempt because it has not yet passed. Another failure would result in a drive-through penalty at the start of Sunday’s race and the requirement to sit out qualifying.

But if McLeod’s car goes wide on the third attempt, then he, like Dillon, will still be allowed to qualify and will retain his starting position. Qualifying is currently scheduled for 11:00 a.m. EST. SATURDAY.
