Vandals in Minot, Minnesota, caused thousands of dollars in damage to parts of two golf courses with a snowmobile.
Five greens between Souris Valley Golf Course and Jack Hoeven Wee Links were the targets, and the offenders were caught on videotape, although surveillance footage failed to obtain a clear image of their faces.
The events occurred on the Sunday after Christmas.
“Golf course staff were checking the course. They noticed the damage. We took photos and reported it to the Minot Police Department,” said Jarrod Olson, director of operations for Minot Parks. KFYR TV channel.
Olson estimates it will take between $5,000 and $6,000 to repair each green, but added that golf course crews won’t know the full extent of the damage until spring, after the snow melts.
As for the vandals, who still haven’t been arrested: “In their minds, they’re probably thinking, ‘Oh, it’s open space. It doesn’t damage anything.’ Well, unfortunately, that is the case. And motor vehicles, snowmobiles, ATVs and UTVs are not allowed on our properties,” Olson told the TV station.
