TThere are so many highlights in Duke Basketball history that it’s hard to remember everything and easy to forget things. Duke hung a banner in Cameron to commemorate Mike Krzyzewski’s 1,000th victory, but do you remember when that happened? Who was the opponent? Where was this game?

Assuming you don’t remember the details, the game took place on January 25, in New York and the opponent was St. John’s.
And it was a classic Duke game in many ways. Duke had to fight back, overcome adversity and show a lot of heart to come out on top.
And that’s exactly what Duke did.
Trailing by 10 with 8:15 to play, the Blue Devils went on an 18-2 lead, eventually winning 77-68.
This match took place on a Sunday. The following Wednesday, Duke would announce that Sulaimon had been kicked off the team. Coach K had this to say: “Rasheed has not been able to consistently live up to the standards required to be a member of our program. It is a privilege to represent Duke University and with that privilege comes the responsibility to conduct himself in a certain manner. After Rasheed repeatedly struggled to meet the necessary obligations, it became apparent that it was time to dismiss him from the program.”

Krzyzewski would adopt the slogan “Eight is enough,” Grayson Allen would step up, and Duke would win the national championship in April.
