This is a daily list of the top players on Springfield area high school sports teams for the week of Sept. 16-21, compiled from information provided to the State Journal-Register by coaches, athletic directors and team statisticians.

Last week’s best players: Rochester’s Brenden McArdle and Lutheran’s Noah Rodenburg score multiple goals

Tuesday September 17

⚽ Football for boys

Carter Matteson, Lutheran: He scored four goals, including three in the first half of Lutheran’s 5-1 home win over Riverton.

Carson Berberet, Rochester: He scored three goals as Rochester earned a 10-0 shutout victory over Decatur MacArthur/Eisenhower in Central State Eight Conference play.

Keagan Brown, Carlinville: He scored three goals with one assist as the Cavaliers recorded a 7-0 shutout of Pana.

🏐 Volleyball

Reagan McGlauchlen/Izzy Reed/Kennedy Bowker, Panama: McGlauchlen recorded 11 kills, Reed had seven digs and 20 assists and Bowker had a match-high 19 digs in Pana’s 25-23, 25-17 victory over Riverton.

Lucy Ambrose, Springfield High School: He had three kills and three aces in Springfield’s 25-6, 25-18 loss at Normal U-High.

Brianne Rogers, Jacksonville Routt: He had 11 digs on defense, but Routt lost to Greenfield/Northwestern 25-20, 25-11.

🏌 Golf for boys

Owen Paluska, South County: The medalist shot a 2-over-par 38 as South County finished with a score of 160 in a five-team victory over Raymond Lincolnwood (172), Ramsey (182), Lutheran (185) and Mount Olive (193) at Timber Lakes Golf Course.

Matt Overby, Staunton: Staunton shot a team-low 40-over-par to lead the Bulldogs to a two-shot, 169-171 victory over Litchfield in a five-team matchup at Timber Lakes Golf Course.

🏌 Golf for girls

Rian Deardorff, Raymond Lincolnwood: He earned medalist honors and led the Lancers with a 43 in a triangular victory over South County and Mount Olive at Timber Lakes Golf Course.

Monday September 16

🏌 Golf for girls

Taylor Keirs, North Mac: He shot a 2-over-par 38 to take medal honors as North Mac won a quadrangular match with a score of 138 over Raymond Lincolnwood, Carlinville and Litchfield at Carlinville Country Club.

🏌 Golf for boys

Cam Early, Mac du Nord: He shot a 3-over-par 35 and three other players finished in the 30s in North Mac’s triangular victory over Raymond Lincolnwood and Auburn at Oak Hills Golf Course in Girard.

Bryce Cowdrey, Raymond Lincolnwood: Earned medalist honors with a 34-over-par 34 in Lincolnwood’s five-shot loss to North Mac at Oak Hills Golf Course in Girard.

⚽ Football for boys

Thomas Garst/Thomas Davis, SHG: Garst scored the equalizer and Davis scored the winner as SHG scored twice in the second half to beat Carlinville 2-1 in a non-conference game.

Dom McDonald/Joel Gove, Pleasant Plains: The duo each scored two goals in Plains’ 8-1 win over Riverton.

🏐 Volleyball

Mackenzie Mehochko/Lizzy Hill, Nokomis: Mehochko finished with seven kills and seven digs and Lizzy Hill served five aces and scored 17 points in Nokomis’ 25-10, 25-5 victory over South County.

Hannah Gibson, Carlinville: He had seven kills, four service aces and a block to lead Carlinville to a 25-18, 25-12 victory over Raymond Lincolnwood in a non-conference match.

Riley Holliday and Hannah Holliday, Williamsville: Riley had 19 assists and five digs while younger sister Hannah had seven kills, six digs and two aces in a 26-24, 25-15 victory over Deer Creek-Mackinaw.
