Ahead of Halloween NBC’s morning show hosts embraced the holiday spirit on Sunday with a Super Bowl-inspired group costume from NFL.
Hoda Kotb came out first while Carrie Underwoodlip-syncing the lyrics to NBC’s Sunday Night Football theme song.
“There aren’t enough Spanx in the world for that,” the 57-year-old co-host joked during a behind-the-scenes look at the costumes.
Carson Daly And Willie Geist were next as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers duo Tom Brady And Rob Gronkowskiboth wearing a handful of real Super Bowl rings.
“Hey TB, throw me one!” Geist, 46, said to Daly, 48, who then began aiming for the Lombardi Trophy before him. “No, no that one!” Daly shouted. “Do you remember what happened last time!”
Craig Melvin came out like Patrick Mahomesprefaced with a video of a young Mahomes fan cheering on the 26-year-old Kansas City Chiefs quarterback.
In a mock press conference, Melvin, 42, told the young boy, “You can do anything, you can even make it to the Super Bowl” before throwing a Mahomes-signed football into the crowd, shouting: “This one’s for you!” “
The NFL theme continued with Al Roker as The weekend. The 67-year-old weatherman imitated the singer’s epic performance on the Super Bowl LV Halftime Show, complete with masked dancers as backup.
Sheinelle Jones I took the same path with her Bruno Mars costume as she imitated her Super Bowl XLVIII production.
Savannah Guthrie And Jenna Bush Hager ended the segment as Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders and performed a brief routine alongside members of the famous dance team.
Peter Alexander and Kristen Welker also joined the fun, along with characters from Lil Nas And Billy Ray Cyrus‘Old Town Road’ music video.
Last year, the presenters of the show disguised as characters from some of Broadway’s most iconic musicals. Dreyer and Jones dressed as Chicago‘s Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart, while Melvin and Roker play Alexander Hamilton and King George from Lin Manuel MirandaIt is Hamilton.
Hager channeled Grizabella from Catswhile Kotb and Gurthrie were Glinda and Elphaba of Wicked.
In 2020, Daly opened the show by paying tribute to New York City’s theater industry, which suffered a prolonged shutdown amid the pandemic.
