Once again you have proven that football is not a sport, but simply a reason to cause riots and kidnap people. Looks like there was a huge riot in Russia after the loss to Japan. Apparently, a police officer was killed during the operation. Well done, idiots.
There is no doubt that football hooliganism has reached a critical level, and the fact that people are dying (with some frequency) because of football matches is ridiculous. But it’s not just football, man (although that’s probably the worst part). You’re from Denver, right? There were riots in Denver after the 1998 and 1999 Super Bowls and the 1996 Stanly Cup (and the Denver teams WON all of those). I don’t think anyone died there, but anyone who participates in riots over a sporting event is a complete idiot. (I’m not picking on Denver either, there were riots in Edmonton, where I’m from, in the 80’s after we won the Stanley Cup and drunks even rioted here on the day of Canada Day last year for absolutely no reason).
Are you sure they weren’t just arguing over bread like usual?
A football match was the cause of a war between Honduras (sp?) and another country. Yes, my friends, two countries took military action against each other because of the results of a football match.
And the same thing doesn’t happen here in the United States with basketball? Why do you take such ignorant low blows

Football is a passion that Americans will never understand. When all a country has is the hope that its football team loses, it can be fucking painful and these men with no future
rage. This is serious, let them express their anger because if England leaves I’m sure I’ll break a few bottles!
Typical fucking guys, watching the world from their comfy chairs spitting on the world and cultures/people of less privileged countries. Keep your damn nose away from what doesn’t concern you and what you don’t understand (football and the rest of the world).
Nothing to lose? Hmm. If their country wins, what exactly will these guys get out of it? Money? Food? Clothes? The right to say: “My country won the football match”, that’s all. Is it worth starting a riot and killing someone? You’re right. I’m a Yankee and I don’t understand how so-called civilized adults lose all control over the outcome of a game. You may need to explain this in a bit more detail before I “get it”.
Dave, I couldn’t agree with you more. I wish we could isolate ourselves from the rest of the world and let everyone go to hell in a handbasket. However, whenever another nation has a problem, they rush toward good. old Uncle Sam to get all their asses out of the fire, only to put us down and turn on us when everything is going well. Ungrateful bastards.
Dave, it’s a pretty sad situation when a country’s only hopes are tied to a sporting event. Maybe it’s time to live. Please tell us which countries this afflicts so I can make sure I never go there. Truly PATHETIC.
Well I’m from Canada and I can understand what can happen after a football match, I’m not saying I’m for it but I understand how it happens when you’ve grown up, lived and breathed a sport. For example, my whole life it was hockey and I saw a lot of riots and fights break out after small town hockey games. it happens all the time, it gets very heated when you’ve grown up with something like this, it even becomes more of a sport, it’s more of a war on the ice then off the ice after the game.
In Dagenham “would speak German without us” Dave,
First of all, GAME is NEVER a good reason to riot, cause damage, or kill.
Second, before we start talking about “typical Yankees”, why don’t we take a look at what we have done for England and the rest of the world over the last century.
I admit that our foreign affairs policies are not the best, but before you start badmouthing us, think about what you are saying. And just so you know, England doesn’t have the best reputation in the world either.
Take a long look in the mirror before expressing yourself next time.
Football doesn’t cause riots, people cause riots. Why not ban all sports because they cause aggression. And weightlifting can cause injuries, let’s get those out of the way too. Why not ban it? Close all gyms, it’s dangerous.
Like I said, you just don’t understand, but for you idiots who don’t understand the situation, here’s a quick overview. Russia is a huge and potentially very powerful country, but its current economic state is poor and its population is depressed. Russia is desperate to show the world improvement and reintegration to its former glories, whether through sport or the economy. The World Cup is perhaps the biggest stage to show what the country is made of and losing to second-rate Japan would have been painful to swallow. My point is underlined when you hear what the crowd was chanting (Forward Russia). This is a sad situation for a country at rock bottom that is desperate to begin to recover. It’s offensive to people to say it’s barbarians doing what they did, but when you’re depressed and you don’t see a way out, frankly, you don’t care. Leaving the Russians aside, we realize you’re not crazy about the idea of the “communist” threat reappearing because it’s not, don’t piss on these people when they’re over there .
One more point, I left, Russia may be in decline, but the only thing they have that is the best is their national antehm. They brought back the old Soviet tune from the 80s and I’m sure you all remember Rocky 4 and frankly it kicks every other antehm’s ass esp. star-spangled banner. But I’m willing to bet you won’t even admit this defeat to the Russians because a communist victory is a victory for evil, right guys!!
Dave, you and Communist Russia can kiss the collective ass of the BEST NATION IN THE WORLD, the USA! Now fuck off!!!
One more thing Dave, we sure kicked your country’s ass in the Revolutionary War, didn’t we! Put on the irons!!!
You speak well for your country, if only your presenter had a gift like you for generating nationalist speeches, then America could vote assholes like you. I simply explained why the violence happened in Russia and you come back with “USA no. The words “fucking bullshit” come to mind. I doubt you have the intelligence to understand the anagram, whether it’s that one or your bust tattoo USA no. 1 on your ass.
Dave, I think most people here in the US don’t care about your anagrams. We speak English well on this side of the Atlantic. Lightandfluffy would give you an F for spelling. You know, when you say bad things about the United States, we get upset, well, because we’re a proud nation. I guess everyone wants to pick on us because we’re the greatest nation in the world! It’s good to be the king!
Again, it’s just a game. It doesn’t prove anything about the state of a nation, just the relative skills of the individuals on the field that day. It’s not barbaric, it’s just stupid. I wish the Russian people good luck. I don’t want any harm to happen to them. I hope they dig themselves out of the post-Cold War hole they find themselves in. It’s not about nations, it’s about people revolting and killing themselves after a damn match. I don’t care if you “live, breathe, eat and shit” football or any other sport your whole life, losing a game is not worth a man’s life. It happened here too and it was just as tragic and stupid at the time. Of course, this whole “my country is better than yours” thing is about as mature as “my dad can kick your dad’s ass.”
Sports idiots. Try Little League parents. When my son played baseball, I was continually amazed and disgusted by his parents’ behavior.
