A growing topic in college basketball is that of nightly broadcasts of the NCAA tournament.
On Tuesday, the NCAA’s March Madness team made a welcome change to the schedule for the 2025 national championship game.
The 2025 Whitewash National Championship game was moved up 30 minutes from the usual start time of 9:20 a.m. EST to 8:50 a.m. EST in hopes that fans could stay awake for the duration of the game. In years past, fans had to watch the “One Shining Moment” film montage late at night and sometimes early the next day.
While individuals in the college basketball world seemed to greatly appreciate the decision, many fans on social media expressed their opinion that the game was still too late.
Regardless, March Madness is one of the biggest postseason tournaments, and while the group may not need to change start times incredibly drastically to attract new viewers, it speaks volumes about the organization’s willingness to change for the betterment of the fan experience.
