Ephrata – The female tennis team Ephrata Tigers went on the road and won a tight 3-2 victory against the bulldogs of Ellensburg on Thursday. It was a difficult victory.
The Tigers would abandon the two games in single, putting them in a 0-2 deficit. From there, he would be left to double matches. However, head coach Emily Allsopp was confident.
“I told my daughters that we just have to play tennis that we know we can play and focus on the basics,” she said.
The Tigers remained faithful to this goal in their double matches, winning the three to win a return victory. The first double match was won in two sets by Erika Morford and Ali Helaas.
It was much closer in double two and three, and it took three sets for the tigers to withdraw the return. Jessica Mathis and Lilly Brewer had to solve him the longest against the bulldogs. They won the first set 6-4, dropped the second 3-6, then took a momentum, winning the third set after being down 0-4 and retaliated to 6-4.
Allsopp praised the duo.
“They probably played the biggest tennis game that I have ever seen them playing in all my life,” said Allsopp. “Their resilience and their ability to exceed a second set loss are really impressive and honestly, really important and necessary with regard to tennis.”
