Matches
-
Each match consists of two teams of three playing 15 holes over two sessions.
-
Triples, holes 1 to 9: each team of three players plays in an alternating shot format.
-
Singles, holes 10 to 15: head-to-head competition on the entire hole. Each player on each team plays a total of two complete holes during this session.
Rating
-
Each hole is worth one point and the team with the fewest shots on a hole wins the point.
-
Ties are worth zero points and there are no carryovers.
-
The team with the most points after 15 holes wins the match.
-
Each match will be played until all 15 holes are completed, even if the outcome of the match has been decided. The total number of holes won by a team constitutes a tiebreaker in the SoFi Cup standings at the end of the regular season.
The hammer
-
One team has the hammer to start each match. The team in possession of the hammer can throw it at any time.
-
If the hammer is accepted by the opposing team, the hole value will increase by 1 point.
-
If the hammer is refused, the team that refused will lose (or concede) the hole.
-
A hammer thrown before any tee shot is struck on a hole must be accepted.
-
The hammer changes possession when thrown, whether it is accepted or rejected.
-
The hammer can be used several times during the same hole.
Over time
-
If the match is tied after 15 holes, teams will play best-of-three, closest to the hole to decide the winner. It will be similar to penalty shootouts in football.
-
Overtime takes place on the green, in the short game area of the playing field. The distance of the shot will be between 25 and 50 meters and will be decided before the match by the TGL competition team.
-
The hole location and orientation of the green will remain unchanged from the last hole of the match.
-
All players will play in the same place.
-
The ball must finish on the putting surface to be eligible.
