What we know about Thursday’s matches

-Oklahoma City and Minnesota renew their rivalry in the Western Conference: These two teams have been atop the Eastern Conference standings for three years now and they will face off here in Minnesota. The series has been close in recent years, with these two teams trading wins and losses in eight straight meetings. Minnesota won the last meeting on December 19.

-Detroit and Phoenix should engage in a defensive battle: These two teams have been two of the biggest surprises in the NBA, and that’s mostly due to their defenses. The Pistons rank second in points allowed and defensive efficiency, while the Suns are fifth in points allowed and seventh in defensive efficiency.

-Charlotte and Dallas look revived: The Hornets have been one of the best teams in the NBA recently, entering this game in the middle of a four-game winning streak. They have also recorded a double-digit victory in 10 of their last 11 victories, winning by an average of 25 points per game. Dallas has also looked improved, entering this game winning four of its last six games.
