The 2022 FIFA World Cup is taking place in all its glory and the teams are trying their best to win the prestigious trophy. Besides FIFA, several advertisements are also a major talking point for fans. Nike released an ad featuring many legendary players, and it became a topic of discussion, as did the female players. The ad generated a lot of heat because the World Cup was going to take place in Qatar, where women’s rights are present but questionable.

The history of football
Football or soccer has been played since medieval times, but there were no rules. Workers played this game in their free time. In the mid-19th century, several British schools began to adopt football as a student sport. Cambridge University then decided to establish uniform rules for the game. With colonialism, the game had already spread throughout the world.
In the US/NA, people started calling this game “soccer”, while the rest of the world called it football. With the popularity of the Internet, this difference has become a meme. This became confusing because the United States had a sport very similar to rugby and they called it soccer.
After shameful defeat against Japan, four-time world champions Germany consider leaving FIFA along with 2 other European giants
The last Frito-Lay advertisement is based on the FIFA World Championship and relies on the football versus football debate. Veteran American footballer Peyton Manning presented his team for football and legendary English star David Beckham sided with football. The advert is amazing and has received a lot of praise.
Twitter ended the debate
MLS marketing expert Kyle Sheldon found articles from a British newspaper. They published the articles in 1950 and had something that may end this football versus football debate. The main headline is “England lose cup match, one of football’s worst matches”. He posted three photos and said: “Well, yeah, I went back and found a bunch of articles in English newspapers from the 1950s, the day after the USA beat England 1-0 in the World Cup… AND THEY CALL IT FOOTBALL.»
The Twitter fandom had some hilarious reactions:
You literally have two teams in your bio that have FC in their name, Kyle.
