Besides FIFA, several advertisements are also a major talking point for fans. Nike released an ad featuring many legendary players, and it became a topic of discussion, as did the female players. The ad generated a lot of heat because the World Cup was going to take place in Qatar, where women’s rights are present but questionable.

Frito-Lay released an ad featuring Peyton Manning and David Beckham. The advert assumes a debate over whether the sport should be called football or football. This debate is very historic and fans appreciated the little jokes.

The history of football

Football or soccer has been played since medieval times, but there were no rules. Workers played this game in their free time. In the mid-19th century, several British schools began to adopt football as a student sport. Cambridge University then decided to establish uniform rules for the game. He posted three photos and said: “Well, yeah, I went back and found a bunch of articles in English newspapers from the 1950s, the day after the USA beat England 1-0 in the World Cup… AND THEY CALL IT FOOTBALL.»
