This parody of Brooks Koepka-Oasis’ song might be the golf pianist’s finest work to date | This is the loop

By now you’ve heard the news: Brooks Koepka has followed in little brother Chase’s footsteps, joining LIV Golf for bags and bags of money days after claiming he “didn’t think much of it.” It’s a blow to fans of distant indifference and cyberbullying, but as with all things in life, from a breakup to the loss of a beloved goldfish, the right song can help ease the pain. pain. Luckily, golf’s resident pianist Sam Harrop delivered exactly Tuesday with this hilarious and incisive Koepka/Oasis parody. Rain-spotted window pane for looking out, not included.

We’ve heard many of Harrop’s hits over the years: his Power Ballad by Tony Finau/REO SpeedwagonTHE Mickelson/Sheeran mix you didn’t know you needed it, but this might be his best work yet. The “grow the game” bits, Andy Ogletree and Kevin Na are all great, but it was the “throw a dark cloud in the sky” line, a reference to Koepka’s press conference in Brookline last week that sparked for the first time alarm signals. , this really puts it all over the top. Most of Harrop’s previous songs have been good and fun, but this one is clearly a dig and that’s a good thing.

Best of all, though, is the comfort of knowing that Brooks will hear that and will the hate. The man was tuning into Bryson’s Twitch streams for Christ’s sake. Nothing escapes him. No comment is forgotten. Next to useGolfFACTSKoepka is the closest thing golf has to Kevin Durant and it’s going to be glorious to see how this mess plays out in his head, rent-free and to the tune of “LIV(e) Forever.”
