THE Yankees hope to find their third starting basis player this spring.
With a few candidates already on the list, but none who stood out recently, the team said that they could use a peloton in this position but do not prefer. The two manager Aaron Boone and Managing Director Brian Cashman appointed four potential starting thirds before the start of spring training: DJ Lemahieu, Oswaldo Cabrera, Oswald Peraza And Vivas Jorbit.
With the first week of spring training in books, here is how each candidate played in games from February 21 to 28 …
DJ Lemahieu
The veteran field player has not yet appeared in a spring training game. Boone said Lemahieu would see his first action at stake on Saturday or Monday evening.
It is not uncommon for veterans do not see the action of play until later in the spring. The Yankees did that with Austin Wells And Aaron judge, It is therefore not a red flag. But after a 2024 campaign where he reduced .204 / .269 / .259 with a .527 OPS, Lemahieu and the Yankees hope for a year of rebound.
Oswaldo Cabrera
February 22 against Blue Jays: 0-Pour-3
February 25 against twins: 0-for-3
February 27 against Phillies: 1-for-3, HR
February 28 against Blue Jays: 1-for-3
Cabrera apparently has the interior track to list the opening day. His versatility and experience in the major league make him a safe bet, but he started slowly in marble. After being safe in his first two spring games, Cabrera went to court and finished the first week of matches with a two -game sequence.
He also played a solid defense to good goal, which is important for this team of Yankees.
Oswald Peraza
February 21 against Rays: 1-For-2, BB, R
February 23 against Tigers: 0-Pour-2
February 26 against the cardinals: 1-for-2, r
February 28 against Blue Jays: 1-for-3, RBI, R
The unfaithful perspective formerly praised was hampered by injuries and poor performance in the big league. This spring is a make -up artist for the 24 -year -old who is outside the minor league options.
Until now, Peraza has shown great defense in the third and stopped. His skills as a bullet-to-shot have apparently improved because he did not fall back in his first four games. Peraza has not yet been able to show his stolen basic potential, but his speed allowed him to beat double potential games and to score easily from the second goal after the blows.
Vivas Jorbit
The young inner field player has not yet made his debut this spring due to shoulder pain, by Boone. The Yankees skipper added That Vivas is about to play again.
This is a difficult start for Vivas, which, after turning your head last spring, will have to do it again on its return.
