There’s a lot going on regarding the New York Rangers today.
First, Sportsnet Eliott Friedman reported that the Rangers have made it very clear that they want to make a move and shake up their roster, with the names of Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba being floated as potential trade options.
In the wake of their 6-2 loss in Edmonton on Saturday, the Rangers made it clear they wanted to make moves and shake up their roster.
Names listed include Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba, although other options will be considered.

Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today not only confirmed this report, but also provided insight into the turmoil and dysfunction within the Rangers organization.
“There is clear unrest within the #NYR organization right now, with concerns coming from the top about this core being capped and growing unease from players/staff.” Mercogliano wrote via X. “But sources also reiterated how rare/difficult big deals are this time of year.”
Adding to Elliotte’s reporting (and more to come): There is obvious unrest in #NYR org right now, with concerns coming from the top about this core being plateaued and growing player/employee unease. But sources also reiterated how rare/difficult big deals are this time of year. https://t.co/KcODEwU8M0

Although the Rangers currently hold a 12-6-1 record, they clearly don’t look like the same team that won the Presidents’ Trophy last season.
Team members, especially members of the leadership group, seem to have hit the panic button at the start of the year.
Mercogliano wrote that Rangers general manager Chris Drury sent a message to all NHL general managers following New York’s 6-2 loss Saturday night to the Edmonton Oilers, saying he is open for business and motivated to reshuffle the core of the team.
At this point in the season, it’s extremely difficult to make a monumental move, especially involving players such as Kreider and Trouba, who both make over $6 million per year.
All eyes are on the Rangers given these rumors and the potential shake-up the franchise could undergo sooner rather than later.
