The 2026 home schedule opens in Week 2 against Rutgers on September 11, the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The Rutgers game will serve as Boston College’s 13th Red Bandana game, honoring former Eagles lacrosse player Welles Crowther, who died saving up to 12 people in the South Tower of the World Trade Center on September 11 2001.
A week after hosting Rutgers, Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day will take place when Boston College takes on Maine on September 19. The annual Boston College Family Weekend will take place in Week 4, when the Eagles face Virginia Tech on September 26 in their first ACC game of the season.
After a two-week break at home between a trip to Dallas and a bye week, the Eagles return to Alumni Stadium to face Pittsburgh in Homecoming on October 17. In partnership with BC Student Affairs and the Alumni Association, Homecoming is the culmination of a week-long celebration at The Heights, honoring the rich traditions and mission of Boston College. Additionally, the Varsity Club will introduce the new winners at halftime of the game, followed by brunch the next day. Full event details and ticket information will be available at a later date.
The Eagles will celebrate Veterans and Military Appreciation Day on Nov. 7 when they take on Florida State in the penultimate home game of the 2026 campaign at Alumni Stadium. Boston College will close out its slate on Nov. 21 against Syracuse for the second annual Jay McGillis Memorial Senior Day Game.
While playing under head coach Tom Coughlin as a starting safety for Boston College in 1991, McGillis was diagnosed with leukemia. Following intensive chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant from his older brother, McGillis died in the summer of 1992. McGillis’ memory lived on throughout the Eagles’ spring football game in his honor and will continue to be honored by the Jay McGillis ’93 Memorial Scholarship Fund, awarded annually to a senior defensive back by the Boston College Gridiron Club. Additionally, Coughlin founded the Jay Fund in 1996 to “help families fight childhood cancer by providing comprehensive financial, emotional and practical support.”
