The WNBA revealed that an individual who had thrown a sex toy on the field during a dream game of Atlanta earlier in the week has been arrested, and that anyone throwing objects in the court will be ejected from the arena and will face a minimum prohibition of one year.
The incident in Atlanta occurred at the end of the fourth quarter of the dream match against Golden State Tuesday in College Park, in Georgia.
Later in the week, another sex toy was launched in Chicago under the hoop after a whistle was blown away to stop the game during the third quarter of the 73-66 victory of Golden State on the sky.
An official has put the object aside before it was picked up and withdrawn.
We do not know if the fan who threw the object at the Sky game was arrested.
“The safety and well-being of all in our arenas are an absolute priority for our league. Objects of any type thrown on the field or in the lounge area may present a risk of security for players, game managers and fans,” the league said in a statement.
“In accordance with the safety standards of the WNBA Arena, any fan who intentionally throws an object in the court will be immediately ejected and will face a minimum prohibition of one year in addition to being subject to arrest and prosecution by local authorities.”
The players were angry that no longer had to stop the incidents.
“It’s super disrespectful,” said Elizabeth Williams, Sky Center.
“I don’t really understand. He is really immature. He who does it must grow.”
Friday, the New York Liberty striker Isabelle Harrison commented on social media on the situation.
“Security of the arena?! Hello ??!” Harrison said on X.
“Please do better. It’s not funny. I have never been funny. Throwing anything in the field is so dangerous.”
WNBA arenas have security procedures, many having either a bagless policy, or some authorizing clear bags, often of limited size. Each bag is subject to research when entering the arena.
