The future in the metaverse
The complete vision of individual and unique digital avatars to alternate between digital space and reality will take several more years. This is partly because the giants involved, such as Facebook and Microsoft, each have their own vision of the metaverse. Web 2.0 has allowed many other mega tech companies like Uber and TikTok to emerge and grow, and they want in on the action here too.
In addition, sustainability and climate protection are somewhat of an obstacle to the full implementation of the Metaverse. Indeed, the energy needs of a large, permanently available platform, which must operate on a global scale, must rely on the use of blockchain. This is the only way to guarantee a certain level of authenticity. And this costs enormous amounts of energy, which should indeed only be produced in an environmentally friendly manner, carefully and consumed in moderation.
Experts assume that the the future of the metaverse will gradually grow and arrive in the reality of sports fans. There cannot be a clear separation before and after. On the contrary, it will simply conquer everyday life in certain areas and with certain offers, products and services, but also skills, by first integrating then by blending in completely. And at some point, the metaverse and with it the new sports experience will not only be a reality, but a given.
