East Rutherford – that’s not all Russell Wilson mistake.
This is not the reason why Giant have been outdated, outdated and overwhelmed Sunday evening 22-9 against chiefs. This is not the reason why Joe Schoen’s draft courses are in a way worse aging than that of Dave Gettleman. He is not only responsible for this formerly proud franchise who devotes to one of his own fans is struggling to take seriously.
Not completely.
But Wilson does not do anything better either, nor to help the situation. Certainly not on the ground. Thus, when it is not entirely to blame, it is time for the giants to turn to Jaxson Dart.
“Not good enough,” said head coach Brian Daboll after the loss.
Start quickly. You heard that all summer. It was the rallying cry of the giants. They watched their season ended before opening their door to Trick-Or-Traiters in the past two years. This season was to be different.
Well, this is not the case. The giants are 0-3. The history of the NFL gives them a tiny chance of making the playoffs – only six to this brand have ever achieved it. Watch this team play a quarter, and your eyes will not even be so good.
And a major reason for this: the offense. The giants were horrible for the second time in three weeks. If you want to extend this more: it was the 14th time in the last 20 games, they failed to score 20 points.
Recruit Skattebo cam (10 rushes for 60 yards and a touchdown, six catches for 61 yards) was good. Everything else was an abomination. Wilson completed 18 of the 32 passes for 160 yards with two interceptions. The match plan seemed to flow on this: throw it deeply, check it, take a bag.
“I think it was obviously disappointing,” said Wilson.
Receiver entirely of the world Malik Nabres has only seen seven targets (the lowest linked in his career). He caught only two passes for 13 yards (the lowest brands in his career). Theo JohnsonThat the team spent the whole off -season praising the next Rob Gronkowski, caught a pass for nine yards. He has six catches in three games. Darius Slayton was a non-factor (four catches over 30 meters). Wan’dale Robinson caught a pass for 26 yards.
It was the most anemic that the giants’ offensive has been like since … their first match against commanders. Where the offensive did not score and Wilson finished 17 of the 37 for 168 yards. The giants estimated that they had struck their 40-37 defeat against the cowboys, but given what Dallas’ defense looked like the Bears Putrid (a defeat of 31-14), it may be the anomaly.
“Offensively, nothing was good enough,” said Daboll. “Training, playing. Didn’t do a job well enough. Everyone.”
Credit where it is due: Defense was better. You will hear that each time someone associated with the giants speaks this week. Shane BowenThe defensive coordinator criticized after the disaster in Dallas a week ago, developed a winning match plan against the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes.
This did not matter, however, because this offense – no matter who seems to call the parts – is not the one you can win.
Something should change. This something is aligned under the center.
“There are ups and downs and moments that are still difficult,” said Wilson, whom the crowd of Stadium Metlife has hooked each time he came on the ground. “You know, you must have thick skin, do you know what I mean?”
You can put a guard. He will have no resounding impact. Ditto for 10 of the 11 positions on an offense. The one who can evoke a difference, a real difference, is a quarter. And the giants have this organization (well, at least coaches staff) for head heels.
Dart, the Daboll player criticized each table at 1925 giants leading, impressed the most in the building with its capacity for Moxy, Sens “and on the field since its arrival. He was good in the training camp. It was stellar in pre-season (32 out of 47, 372 yards, three affected, another rush).
He is ready enough for the giants to name their quarter aid. They have given him a pack of pieces in the past two weeks to go out and play. The moment, at no time, looks too big.
Dart is ready. The giants, because they predetermined their minds that Wilson is their starter, were not. They want to follow the Mahomes plan, the Aaron Rodgers Plan. Sit, develop, then play. But Alex Smith is not ahead of Dart. It’s not Brett Favre.
Wilson could one day have a gold jacket. But the 36 -year -old man who collects John Mara pay checks is not the one who won this honor because of his heroism in Seattle. He will have a flash of whom he was (450 yards, three affected against cowboys), but much more often, he will be this type.
Pray for a moon ball to strike. Check it as there is a pressure. He does not raise anyone around him. Thus, while the giants hoped that it allowed them to compete this year, save jobs and prepare for the future, at 0-3, it is clear that this does not happen.
So stop waiting.
“Jaxson is progressing well,” said Daboll. “We will continue to work with him. I have a lot of confidence in him, his development he had. “
It was not a normal crowd at Metlife Stadium. The faithful chiefs packed the red stands. The “chefs” were provided at the end of the national anthem, much like at the Arrowhead stadium. It was alarming but not surprising, since the giants have had the worst NFL record since 2017 (40-94-1).
At one point, however, fans of the giants who were there were enough. They started their own song: “We want Dart.”
Dart said that after the match, he hadn’t heard it. It was not clear if his nose grew up after pronouncing these words. It didn’t matter. Fans are right. They shouldn’t wait.
The giants tried the Wilson experience. It didn’t work.
Go to the recruit.
It’s time to start Dart.
