France has obtained its place in the last four of the UEFA Nations League thanks to a shooting victory on Croatia (2-0, Agg. 2-2, thought 6-4) at the Stade de France on Sunday. It is a result which also has implications for their qualification group of the FIFA World Cup.
The victory of the League of Nations against Croatia not only set an appointment with Spain in the semi-final of the competition in June, but this also means that the qualification group of France is confirmed. The Blues were placed in a group with Ukraine, Iceland and Azerbaijan.
Of the three, Ukraine (25th in the FIFA ranking) is the highest rank of the opponents of France, then Iceland (70th) and finally Azerbaijan (117th). France will start its campaign with an outside trip against Ukraine (probably playing on neutral field) on September 5 with the last campaign match in Azerbaijan on November 16.
The Blues I will try to qualify for the FIFA 2026 World Cup, in what is confirmed to be the last tournament of Didier Deschamps in charge of The Blues. As he leaves the position, he will be in charge of the national team for 14 years.
